KATIE ALICE GREER CAPTIVATED

Priests singer Katie Alice Greer releases an eerie new single 'Captivated' from her upcoming debut solo record Barbarism. A departure from the aggressive post-punk of Priests, Katie's solo material retains the tension of her previous band but achieves it through vastly different energy and arrangements; pulsing bass sounds, electronics that deviate between minimal shimmering and anxious twitching and ethereal vocals accompanied by sinister warped siren sounds all combine to create a dark and atmospheric track. The song comes with a video produced by Katie, she describes ideas behind the cut-up dreamscape: "a woman is intermittently experiencing time in reverse. She sees a plane fly overhead in a field and moments later, it flies backwards. She carries a suitcase full of money and now wonders where it came from. After experiencing time in reverse, she questions whether or not her experiences ever happened at all; she wonders whether she is in the present moment, caught in a daydream or a memory. She is losing her sense of reality, and simultaneously trying to piece it back together with the few and unreliable clues she has left." Barbarism is out 24th of June via FourFour Records. -Toby Evans-Jesra
